Coca-Cola Settles Disability Leave Practices Charge with EEOC


Coca-Cola Refreshments will pay $2.25 million to resolve nine charges of discrimination

Coca-Cola Refreshments USA, Inc. has entered into a settlement agreement with EEOC to resolve nine charges of discrimination alleging that the company failed to properly accommodate employees with disabilities.   As part of the agreement, Coke will update its policies and procedures to improve accommodations offered to employees returning to work after disability-related absences.  To support these changes, Coke will create an accommodation and leave management team to provide assistance to its employees. 

The EEOC press released does not indicate how many claimants will benefit from the settlement; however, Coke will make monetary payments totaling $2.25 million to those individuals who filed charges of discrimination and provide annual financial support to selected “non-profit entities dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities find and keep employment.”
